To see and do around the cabins.

The Seine valley on the Essonne side is quiet countryside, twenty minutes from Évry and an hour from Paris. Here is what our guests go back for.

On foot or by bike, from the cabin

  • Rougeau forest It begins at the edge of Saintry. Marked trails, remarkable trees and viewpoints over the Seine valley. Look for the Guardian of the Forest, carved straight into a trunk.
  • The banks of the Seine The towpath runs towards Corbeil one way, towards Morsang the other. Flat, shaded, perfect for a late afternoon on the house bikes.
  • The Corbeil street-art loop A walk of about 6 km along the Seine, dotted with murals. Easy, accessible to everyone, and a different side of the town.

With the family

  • La Ferme des Minis Chapeaux de paille In Saintry itself, rue du Port aux Sablons: an animal-mediation farm open to visitors of all ages. Book before you go.
  • Château du Grand Veneur In Soisy-sur-Seine. The château houses the media library, and its twelve-hectare park a large playground. Free entry.
  • Port aux Cerises leisure park In Draveil, across the Seine: swimming, water sports and open space. The fallback outing when our own pool is closed.

Heritage

  • Saint-Spire cathedral In Corbeil-Essonnes, a listed historic monument since 1840. Old Corbeil takes an hour to walk, down towards where the Essonne meets the Seine.
  • Cathedral of the Resurrection In Évry: the only cathedral built in France in the 20th century. An architectural curiosity, believer or not.
  • Maison Caillebotte In Yerres, the country house where impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte lived from 1860 to 1879, and its riverside park.

The bigger days out

  • Vaux-le-Vicomte The masterpiece that inspired Versailles, and its formal French gardens. Spectacular by candlelight, on Saturday evenings in season.
  • Fontainebleau The imperial château and above all the forest: hiking, bouldering and sandy undergrowth. Easily a full day.
  • Domaine de Montauger In Villabé, a protected natural area run by the département: marshes, meadows and a visitor house. Free, quiet, little known.

Where to eat

  • Le Comptoir des Brosses Traditional French and bistronomy cooking, homemade, seasonal menu with vegetarian options. Run by Romain and Émilie, open Tuesday to Sunday — lunch 10am–3pm, dinner 6pm–midnight. 155 Route de Melun, 91250 Saintry-sur-Seine — 01 64 93 89 11
  • Or stay at the cabin Aperitif board and local produce jars to order 48h ahead: dinner comes to you, no need to get back in the car.

Over 200 walking routes and 70 gravel rides are mapped around Saintry. The house bikes are yours to use: ask us for the loop that matches your level.
